ZACHARIAH C. ARRASMITH, son of Thomas Arrasmith Jr. and Mary "Polly" Cox, was born in Gallatin County, Kentucky in about 1816. He died in 1879 in Patriot, Posey Township, Swtizerland County, Indiana where he had moved to sometime before the enumeration of the 1870 census. The source for his date of death is given below.

Zachariah is personally identified in multiple marriage consent records by Thomas Arrasmith Jr. himself as being Thomas Arrasmith Jr's son. Zachariah was married on 11 July 1835 in Gallatin County, Kentucky to LAVINIA "LAVINA" HENRY, born about 1820 in Kentucky. Lavina died sometime between 1853 - 1856 probably in Kentucky. Lavina was the daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Henry. The name of her father and the maiden name of her mother isn't known at this time. Research is ongoing in the hope of revealing that information.

In March of 2023, while searching copies of old area newspapers in The Switzerland County Library, I found Zachariah's death notice in "The Vevay Reveille", published 27 Feb 1879, page 4, column 4, under the "News & Notes" section for Patriot, Indiana:

"Died, at his residence, Tuesday, Feb. 25th, Mr. Z. Arrasmith, of consumption. Mr. Arrasmith has been an industrious and hard working citizen and a man that attended strictly to his own business. His acquaintances mourn his loss."

At the time of his death there were only two known "Zachariah Arrasmith's" in Kentucky and Indiana. The first, my ancestor, Zachariah C., in Patriot. The second one was Zachariah's grand-nephew, Zachariah T. Arrasmith (the son of Alfred Arrasmith and Mary Ann Courtney). Zachariah T. Arrasmith was still alive in 1879 and in fact died later in 1899 in Boone County, Kentucky. So that only leaves my ancestor, Zachariah C. Arrasmith to fill the place of the "Z. Arrasmith" who died in Patriot of consumption in 1879. He moved to Patriot by the time of the 1870 census, his daughter Maranda was married in Patriot in 1875, Zachariah himself married in Patriot in 1877, and finally he died in Patriot in 1879. Given the lack of a death record or any will or probate for him following my search of the records at the courthouse in Vevay, I'm comfortable using the above evidence and line of reasoning for listing his date of death as 25 February 1879 in Patriot, Posey Twp., Switzerland County, Indiana.  --Wyatt R. 4. REV. WILLIAM ANDERSON ARRASMITH - born 30 Apr 1840 in Warsaw, Gallatin County, Kentucky. Husband of Keziah Ann Hussung. Proof of his relationship as the son of Zachariah and Lavina Henry is verified by U.S. Census and other records, as well as DNA evidence and associated matches. His death certificate incorrectly gives his own name for the name of his father, a not uncommon occurance on death certificates when a child is the informant and is mixed up on what's being asked during such an emotional time.

5. MATILDA ARRASMITH - born abt. 1843.
6. CHARLES DAVID ARRASMITH - born 26 Apr 1845 in Kentucky. Died 13 Mar 1919 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. Married Martha E. Smith. Charles' death certificate gives the name of his father as "Zack Arrasmith" and the last name of his mother as "Henry".

7. MARANDA ARRASMITH - born abt. 1850 in Warsaw, Gallatin County, Kentucky. Married William Taylor, Jr.
8. SAMUEL FLETCHER ARRASMITH - born abt. 1853
