A monumental work and much used as a resource by those

MARY BUMPAS AND ALLIED FAMILYS by Grace Hildy Croft.

around 1812. She is listed in this book and her ancestors are given.
Information on Knapps descended from Martha and Jacob are given as well.
(Compare information from the edition you are referencing against the information
on this site. There were a couple areas in the Knapp information given
in this book that require clarification.) A large volume with much interesting
information. Second Edition (1973) CS/71/B47/1973
THE FAUST/FOUST FAMILY IN GERMANY AND AMERICA by
Dr. Howard Faust.
This is considered the quintessential source-book for
information on the Faust/Foust family. A tremendous undertaking with
fine results and extensive information on this family. Elias Knapp
married Margaret Foust. She is listed in this book (ref. code B1A2B2)
along with her ancestors going all the way back to the 1500's. Highly recommended
and very interesting reading.
Given the amazing scope of this work it's not surprising that there are a few errors, so use this as a reference for your own research. I have personally come across one family that was attached to the wrong line. Generally speaking however, once you get back to the early Pennsylvania and German information, you can count on it being accurate as that part been sourced and checked, and double checked.
The widow of Dr. Howard Faust was the only source for ordering books. I'm not sure how to acquire copies at this time other than the used book outlets and auction sites.
