ELIAS JACOB KNAPP, (Son of Jacob Knapp and Martha Benson) was born 20 May 1813, Fabius, Onondaga County, New York. He was married on 23 August 1835 in Delaware Co., Ohio to MARGARET FOUST (Dau. of John Foust and Christina Ely), born in October of 1813 in Delaware Co., Ohio, died 22 November 1901 in Owosso, Michigan. Both are buried at Liggett Cemetery, Florence Twp., Ohio.

Margaret was first married to David Downing and had a daughter named Elizabeth from that marriage.

Elias and Margaret Knapp had seven children:

1. SARAH ANN KNAPP, born 1840 in Morrow County, Ohio. Married 28 February 1861 to Joseph Jackson Pickel. They had two children: Charles and Elias Jacob.

2. IRA WILLARD KNAPP, born 25 June 1843, Morrow County, Ohio. Died 26 May 1926 in Owosso, Shiawassee Co., Michigan. Married 1st to Lovina Harmon, and 2nd to Mary C. Luce. He was in the Civil War. Ira and Lovina had four children: Elmer, Harmie, Claude, and Mabel. A son named Glen died young.

3. NELSON KNAPP, born 1846, died 26 August 1850, aged 3 yrs., 4 mths. Buried next to his parents at Liggett Cemetery.

4. JACOB HIRAM KNAPP, born 1849 in Williams Co., Ohio.

5. ORLANDO DEVILLO KNAPP, born 3 February 1852 in Williams Co., Ohio. Died in 1921. Married Hanna Jane Shinn. Orlando and Hanna had 8 children.

6. ALBERT DELOS KNAPP, born 1854 in Florence Twp., Williams County, Ohio.

7. LODEMA J. KNAPP, born 1859 in Williams Co., Ohio, married Willis Rigleman. Died 1894 probably in Michigan. They had three children: Ella, Willard, and Birdy.
